GOD's my island hideaway, keeps danger far from the shore,
throws garlands of hosannas around my neck.

verses to remember

for my second post this morning, i found a couple Bible verses that i think we should remember now that the election is over.

Exo 22:28 Thou shalt not revile God, nor curse a ruler of thy people.

Act 23:5 And Paul said, I knew not, brethren, that he was high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of a ruler of thy people.

so even if someone doesn't like or agree with either President Bush or President-elect Obama, God tells us NOT to speak badly of them.

  1. Jesus did not trash the leaders, but he sure as heck challenged the unjustness of their rule. Much more subversive than just flapping one's gums, I must say. Here's hoping Obama will do what he said he'd do after all his (I think well founded) criticism of Bush's administration. - Jamie

  2. i DO think we are supposed to challenge leadership when the leader is clearly going against God's commands. i think these verses apply to those people who aren't being respectful of the president (or president-elect) because of how they feel.
